The family photograph taken outside
the shop (circa 1927/8) my mother has written naming members of the family
at the time. My father was a POW in the First World War, John Served in the
RAF during the 2nd World War and I served in an Armoured unit being evacuated
from Normandy and after hospitalisation posted to the Middle East and Raymond
served in Germany at the end of the hostilities and was then posted to Palestine
where he was killed at the age of
19 years. The Reredos in
the Church was made and erected to his memory.
My father was the
village carrier and is photographed standing in front of his model T Ford
